I was a volunteer for the race in Nome, where for 10 days
I worked the night shift at the Iditarod Headquarters.

Some nights I had the pleasure of spending
time with Martin Buser, who won the race.
Martin had instructed me to wake him up any time day or night so
he could personally greet each musher as they arrived at the finish line.
